Definition

What an industrial maintenance app is

An industrial maintenance app is the app that takes maintenance execution to the field: the technician receives the work order, records the notification, books the hours, and attaches the photo straight from the phone, online or offline. PM Run does this integrated with SAP PM, which remains the central record of work orders, notifications, and assets.

Capabilities

What the PM Run app does in the field

Features of PM Run's Mobility module, all connected to SAP PM.

Execute the work order on the phone

Hour confirmation by operation, automatic or manual time booking, and a checklist generated from the work order's long text.

Create work orders and notifications in the field

Creates the work order mirroring the fields of SAP's IW31 screen and opens the notification with cause, symptom, and part catalogs.

Machine Down button

Records the start and end of the breakdown and calculates the downtime, improving MTBF and MTTR in SAP PM.

QR Code scanning

Opens the work order, notification, and measuring point by scanning the equipment's QR Code, with no need to search the code in a list.

Photo and PDF attachments

Attaches a photo from the camera or gallery to the notification and the work order, and views the PDF generated by SAP.

Offline work with sync

The sync downloads the technical objects and the materials list to the device, so the team works even with no signal.

Measuring point with limits

Reads the measuring point by QR Code, hierarchy, or list, and an out-of-range reading forces a notification to be opened.

Geolocation of each confirmation

Records on a map where the technician was at the moment of each confirmation, for traceability of the work.

Flow

How the technician uses the app day to day

  1. 1

    Syncs before starting

The app downloads the work orders, technical objects, and materials list to the device, the basis for offline work.

  2. 2

    Receives the day's work orders

The work orders come from SAP PM, ordered by the IRPE that the Operational Cockpit calculates.

  3. 3

    Executes at the equipment

Scans the QR Code, completes the checklist item by item, and books the hours by operation.

  4. 4

    Records the failure right away

Opens the notification with the Machine Down button, cause, symptom, and an attached photo.

  5. 5

    Syncs back to SAP

The time booking goes up to SAP PM and the Integration Log confirms the data arrived.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does PM Run replace SAP PM?

No. PM Run's app is the execution layer that runs on top of SAP PM. SAP remains the central record of work orders, notifications, and assets. The app takes execution to the field and sends the time confirmation back to SAP, without creating a parallel system.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes. Before starting, the technician syncs and the app downloads the work orders, technical objects, and materials list to the device. Execution happens offline on the shop floor and the time confirmation goes up to SAP PM as soon as the signal returns.

Can I attach media to the work order?

The technician attaches a photo from the camera or gallery to the notification and the work order, and the app views the PDF generated by SAP. The attachment goes up to SAP on confirmation. The app works with images and PDF, not with video.

Does the app run on Android and iPhone?

Yes. PM Run's maintenance app is available for Android and iOS, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The same operation serves field teams across different plants and languages, with the data always connected to SAP PM.

How does the app ensure the data reached SAP?

Every notification, work order, and measurement document sent is marked in the Integration Log as success or failure. That way the technician and supervisor know the time confirmation reached SAP PM, without relying on a manual check at the office.

What can the technician do with the QR Code?

By scanning the equipment's QR Code, the technician opens the work order, creates the notification, and reads the measuring point without searching the code in a list. When the reading goes out of the configured range, the app forces a maintenance notification to be opened.
